About the Event
The Vision of Children Foundation hosted its inaugural “Vision for America” on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, at Paseo Rancho Santa Fe. Event Co-Chairs Dr. Sandra Coufal and Maria Delgado welcomed a sold-out crowd for a patriotic evening of music and philanthropy featuring award-winning country artist Steven Cade.
The first-ever event raised $90,000 to advance the Foundation’s mission to cure hereditary childhood blindness and genetic vision disorders. Every dollar raised will help fund innovative research and move promising scientific discoveries closer to treatments and cures.
The evening’s patriotic theme carried special meaning throughout the program. Envelopes placed at each table featured passages from the Declaration of Independence, inviting guests to reflect on the nation’s history while supporting a future in which children affected by inherited vision disorders can see more clearly. Dr. Coufal, a physician and drug development executive, also spoke about the science behind VOC’s mission and the critical role donors play in making continued research possible.

About The Vision of Children Foundation
Rancho Santa Fe residents Sam and Vivian Hardage established Vision of Children in 1991 after their son, Chase, was born with Ocular Albinism. At the time, no researchers were studying this rare genetic vision disorder, for which no treatments or cures exist. The Hardages were determined to encourage scientific research to find a cure for this congenital condition.
Today, as it celebrates over 30 years of research, Vision of Children is the foremost organization in the world supporting research for Ocular Albinism and related vision disorders with projects currently underway at The Shiley Eye Institute at UC San Diego Health.

About Steven
Steven Cade is a Nashville, TN award-winning, modern country artist and singer/songwriter. He was born in Houston, TX and arrived in Nashville by way of California. He has carved out a niche as an influential voice in modern country music, blending contemporary pop elements with country influences. His heartfelt energy and relatable themes resonate with a wide audience.
Cade was awarded Best Modern Country Artist at the Grand Ole Opry on two occasions, and his releases have earned Grammy considerations 18 times in country categories. He is a member of the Country Music Association and the Academy of Country Music.

Steven Cade was inducted into the California Music Hall of Fame alongside luminaries like LeAnn Rimes. He is the founder of the 501(C)(3) nonprofit, Giving Guitars Foundation. The foundation was established in 2021 and has impacted over 160 shelters across 24 states and 3 countries, visiting and donating over 250 guitars, as well as helped raise more than $250,000 for charities.
